Belmont University is a private Christian school located in Nashville, Tennessee. It originated from Belmont Women's College, which was established in 1890 by teachers Ida Hood and Susan Heron. In 1951, the school became incorporated as Belmont College. Due to growth in its programs, it was renamed Belmont University in 1991.
