Overview
Established in 1872 by Methodist minister Samuel Lander as Williamston Female College in Williamston, South Carolina, the institution was later renamed Lander College in 1904. Initially a women's college, Lander began admitting male students in 1943 and attained university status in 1992, becoming the present-day Lander University.
