Overview

Northeastern University (NU or NEU), a private research institution, was established in 1898 in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded by the Boston Young Men's Christian Association as an all-male institute, it was incorporated as Northeastern College in 1916 and gained university status in 1922. Today, Northeastern is the largest university in Massachusetts, enrolling over 38,000 students.
